I feel that this land is powerful.
Before Yogi Bhajan set up the ashram here in Espanola in 1974, the original inhabitants were Native Americans who likely held spiritual practices and ceremonies. The Pueblo, Apache, Comanche, Navajo, and Ute peoples have been living here for some twenty thousand years. I wonder if that is why I can still function on little to no sleep.
Ever since the immersion started on August 3, I have found it difficult to fall asleep and would log 3 to 4 hours every night. I’m remembering that Guinness record holder Randy Gardner from the 1960s stayed awake for 11 days and 25 minutes. He contracted speech and memory problems and also started to hallucinate.
We need to sleep to clear our minds and restore our bodies.
If we don’t get enough sleep, it takes a toll on our energy, mood, and ability to function the next day. In Manila, I would definitely feel tired, become irritable and short-tempered and may get triggered easily.
But I am attributing this extraordinary energy from this sacred land, vegan diet, and fresh prana.
I’m sharing five tips from Dr. Japa Kaur on how to sleep better and faster.
1. Grate a third of a nutmeg, put in a pot with water and bring to a boil. Drink before going to bed to help you sleep deeper and longer.
2. Left nostril breathing. Block your right nostril with the thumb of your right hand, and breathe long and deeply through your left nostril. This is soothing and cooling to your system.
3. Sleep on your right side to open the left nostril and help you relax faster. (Note that sleeping on the left side has the most expert- and science-backed health benefits.)
4. Massage the soles of your feet with oil (almond oil is the best) to stimulate all 72,000 nerve endings (click here to learn how to do the healing yogic foot massage).
5. For nightmares, play Chattra Chakkra Vartee, a heart chakra mantra that recuperates the heart and assists in overcoming anxiety.
Despite the incredible energy I’ve been feeling, there are highs and lows in any immersion process.
And right now, I’m at my low point where I’m questioning my choices, decisions, and everything. I believe in synchronicity and am blessed to receive the post from Lena of Power Path about the Full Moon in Aquarius, which was yesterday at 8:29 pm (Manila time). She wrote, “So if you find yourself in the “dumps” and feeling gloomy, unworthy, out of sorts with yourself and others, overburdened with responsibilities that are not yours, evaluate your life to see what you need. It is important not to get into the blame game as that never leads to the penthouse. Set some new intentions for yourself today as well as new or different boundaries if necessary.”
A reflection and a reminder we all need.
Intuitive Astrology recommends reflecting on this during this period: “How can you send love and healing to create a positive effect on your life and the world? How can you hold your own truth without absorbing and getting stung by the voices of the media or those around you?”
This is something I will be reflecting on too.
If you’ve read this far, thank you. I hope you are well. As much as I have learned and enjoyed myself here, I am starting to count down the days to when I can finally be home.
In loving service,
Rosan
