Mercury goes into retrograde until February 21. The last time it was in retrograde, I signed a contract for my home improvement project, and yes, I did experience a delay. That’s why now, I try to get everything done or at least initiate things BEFORE the retrograde period, so I don’t experience a delay or have to fix or revise it later.
I’m not saying not to sign contracts or purchase anything new. You may do so for as long as you’re aware that things may go awry, so you have to read the agreement several times, or check the warranty if you will be investing in a big ticket item.
Astrologer ElleAlexa Simon says of this period, “Emergencies are expected. Mercury Retrograde is definitely NOT the time to start a new relationship, a new job, or long term project – let alone a new career; it is not the time to enter into binding commitments (marriage, financial or otherwise) without the absolute expectation of necessary modifications, alternative compromises and/or reversals in the original plan and/or intent. Unless it’s an emergency, it is generally not a good idea to make or go to medical appointments.”
Unfortunately, miscommunication, misunderstandings, delays, and faulty machinery are often associated with Mercury retrograde and are not uncommon.
Mercury has a more profound lesson, though than being the bearer of nasty things.
When Mercury goes retrograde, it is the time to slow down. As the cycle happens three to four times a year it’s like the universe is saying stop pushing and give yourself some downtime. The vital function of this downtime is to bring us back into balance. This is the time to do everything with ‘re- ‘review, rethink, recalibrate, and repurpose.
Use this time to open up your heart (so to speak).
For February, we will be starting with a new series to vibrate at the frequency of love and open your heart chakra to clear blocks, pain and barriers that will allow life to flow into you. May this help you as you work towards your intentions for the year.
Be mindful and as always, open yourself up to all the possibilities.
In loving service,
Rosan
