Here we are again in another lockdown. With all the news compounded with my chat group’s incessant warnings, are you like me who’s feeling anxious about the possibility of getting exposed to Covid?
My daily breathwork practice has kept my lungs strong, and aside from yoga, I’ve taken up running and hiking, eating well, sleeping longer, and drinking more than two liters a day. I’m also taking supplements such as vitamin C, B12, and D3.
If you mechanically do the O-breath, it is said “The entire physical poisons of your body will leave through the lungs . It helps clear the lungs of all dead elements. When you breathe through the O of the mouth, you conquer disease, weakness and everything else. This will change the ions of the red blood cells and proportion to the white blood cells. It can save you from terminal diseases.”
Here’s how to do the O-breath to help clear and strengthen your lungs:
Sit with a straight spine. Bend the elbows down by the sides. Bring the palms in front of the shoulders, palms flat, face inwards, fingers pointing towards the ceiling. Hands will move in towards the center and out very fast. The hands move about 4 inches towards each other and about 4 inches back from the center. Keep the hands and elbows very stiff and straight as they move.
Make your mouth into an “O” shape and inhale 8 short partial strokes to reach a full inhale; then, exhale in 8 short partial strokes to get a full exhale. Close your eyes, and do this for 11 minutes.
While we are in a state of flux in pandemic, practice can be made a constant. Is the breathwork and practice helping you too? I’d love to hear about it. Let me know.
See you online, and till we can next emerge from our homes – take care. Stay safe always.
In loving service,
Rosan
