When my sister said to start praying for a miracle, it was natural for me to turn to the rosary. Ever since my aunt moved to ICU for treatment, I picked up the rosary and started to pray.

I went to a catholic school run by Benedictine monks of St. Scholastica. Since kindergarten, the motto oro et labora – pray and work has been ingrained in me. We were taught the values of prayer; work, study, community, reverence, and respect as the hallmarks of the life of St. Scholastica.

I have prayed for healing, and now is time to accept things as they are and trust God’s divine plan. Surrender is now vital for me right now. To release control and recognize a force greater than myself. In one of the mysteries, it says, “Pray for me, too, that I may be humble as you and accept God’s Will in my life, no matter what that is” and “To be calm no matter what turbulence I might find in this life.”

Acceptance is a choice, a hard one right now.

I am choosing to accept what’s happening while believing that everything is happening for a reason. My aunt didn’t make it, and I am in grief. I am trying to remember that through this loss there is something to learn from this experience.

The different mysteries have reminded me of the teachings, such as never to impose our will, power, or strength on others and respecting others, especially upon those in-need. Another reminder is to “not condemn anyone and help those in need and protect their dignity and reputation; to have enough discernment to recognize the truth and to forgive always.

An invitation

It will be a while before we emerge from all this. I invite you to pray the rosary with me sometime. If this is new for you or if you are in need of a refresher, drop me a note so I can share a how-to with you. I still do my breathwork, yoga, and now the Gunapti meditation to make the impossible possible. I’ve added the rosary now. It’s sombering to realize though, that if our petitions and manifestations don’t emerge the way we wanted it to be… it means that the universe really does have other plans.

Take care of yourselves and the people you love. Stay safe.

In loving service,
Rosan
