Two weeks ago, we did a Scent and Sound Healing session to activate the energy of Gratitude – just in time for Thanksgiving..
I believe that we don’t have to wait for Thanksgiving day to be grateful, we have to start living our life everyday with gratitude. Yogi Bhajan, the founder of Kundalini Yoga had said, “The attitude of gratitude is the highest way of living, and is the biggest truth, the highest truth. You cannot live with applied consciousness until you understand that you have to be grateful for what you have.” In fact Meister Eckhart asserts this by saying, “If the only prayer you said in your whole life was, ‘thank you,’ that would suffice.”
Living your life with gratitude means choosing to focus your time and attention to what you appreciate. Appreciation softens us. It connects us to everything – great and small – that we may otherwise take for granted; Like the air we breathe to keep us alive, our current state of health that we can still walk, use our hands, smell, taste and especially our friends and family who are always here for us.
When you live a life of gratitude, subtle changes in your life start happening.
First you find yourself less reactive and more calm and that you can express yourself with less fear. Forgiveness comes easy and you can forgive yourself for the mistakes you’ve made in the past and now find it easy to forgive the transgressions of others. Communications with family, friends and even co-workers improve and connections become deeper and more satisfying.
As you accept, appreciate and give thanks to everything around you and about you, you will start to discover a new level of self-love and self-respect that you haven’t experienced before. The frequency of gratitude can immediately lift your spirits from a negative emotional state to a state of gratitude and love.
Try to do it in practical terms, instead of feeling negative about a situation, think on how you can be grateful. If you’re single, regard this as the freedom to be able to choose your most compatible partner. In the same way, with the job or your living conditions – If you catch yourself complaining about housework, see it as a blessing that you have a roof over your head and clean it with gratitude. If you catch yourself complaining about the job or bored at work, see it as a blessing that you have a job where you can be creative or have a regular income that can pay your bills. Be grateful for small things too like the air you breathe, sunshine for vitamin D, even the air conditioning in the office where you’re not exposed to the heat outdoors, among many other things.
Do this: The 7-day Gratitude Challenge.
I will be away from December 5 to December 14 to complete my Level 2 training next month. It’s taken me three years to do the five modules necessary to certify for Level 2 Kundalini Yoga, and am grateful that I will finally be able to complete it this year. My last module will be Authentic Relationships with Shiv Charan Singh and Simrit Kaur in Arava Dessert in Israel. While away, I will be posting meditations each day for my followers to do to cultivate the attitude gratitude. Join in by posting about 3 things that you are grateful for each day as you do the meditation, and tag me and use the hashtag #LiveHealBloom. As a plus, the winner of the 7-day Gratitude Challenge will join the Scent and Sound Healing plus one in January 2019.
Let’s develop an attitude of gratitude well before 2019.
Stay in touch, and hope to see some of you before I go.
In loving service,
Rosan
