I’ve been in beautiful Mama Bali for over a week, and we are on the sixth day of our Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training (KYTT) immersion.

Being part of this training feels like contributing to a beautifully layered cake, where each layer adds something unique and enriching. As a support trainer, I’m sharing a slice, so to speak — with a meditation practice that has been vital to our experience since day one. This meditation helps participants connect with their true selves at the Heart Center, fostering a sense of security and preparing them to navigate life’s ups and downs with greater ease.

By practicing this meditation daily, I’ve seen participants deepen their self-awareness. They begin to uncover what truly matters to them, their core beliefs, and the qualities that make them unique.

This meditation also plays an important role in establishing healthy boundaries, acting as a protective shield around the heart against negative influences. It empowers participants to manage stress and negativity more effectively.

Here’s how to do it: Sit comfortably with a straight spine and close your eyes. Focus on the Brow Point, the area between the eyebrows. Place your hands over your Heart Center, crossing your right hand over your left at the center of the chest. Connect with your heart and feel your heartbeat while lifting your chest slightly. Chant the mantra “Humee Hum, Brahm Hum” (which translates to “We are We. We are the Divine”).” Continue this for 11 minutes. To end, take a deep inhale, hold your breath while pressing your hands firmly against your chest, and then exhale forcefully through your mouth. Repeat this three times.

The mantra helps reduce fear and connects with the heart chakra, which is all about our ability to love deeply and heal.
