Happy New Year!! The energy this January 2020 is quite potent with the lunar eclipse and the very rare planetary alignments happening in the sign of Capricorn.
The full moon lunar eclipse in Cancer is on January 11 at 3:21 am (Manila time). Eclipses are harbingers of change. They often serve as catalysts for major endings and new beginnings.
Astrologer Tanaaz Chubb says that the theme of the month is a spiritual awakening that “will commence with a potent full moon lunar eclipse in the sign of Cancer”. She emphasized that the “Cancerian energy will be strong and waves of emotionally charged energy will be on offer in order to inspire us to release, shed, and let go.”
She added that the long-anticipated Saturn-Pluto alignment on January 12 is extremely rare and carries, “Life-changing, transformative energy that will play a role in shaping the entire year.”

Saturn and Pluto though, are the most ‘feared’ planets and have gotten a bad rap for being dark. Saturn is all about boundaries and limitations while Pluto is all about transformation and extremes, creation and destruction. Together, they will have a deep global impact.
As the alignment happens every 33-38 year cycle, there have been times when it has affected the world: 1914-1915 saw the outbreak of World War I and the emergence of the U.S. as a world power. 1947 saw the advent of the nuclear arms race which started with the bombing of Hiroshima, the independence of India and Pakistan and the establishment of the International Monetary Fund to stabilize currency exchange rates. 1982 saw the birth of HIV, the internet and everything ‘remote’ was made possible (remote buying, remote communication, etc).
What makes it extra potent this period is that Saturn and Pluto plus three other planets -Sun, Mercury and Jupiter- are all lined up in the sign of this hardworking, determined and ambitious energy of Capricorn. Capricorn is represented by the mountain goat, and if you have ever seen a mountain goat, you would know that it is able to climb higher and stay in places that most other animals would not be able to get to. We are all going to be able to make a leap of progress as we climb our own mountains.
Capricorn is a very practical sign, it is about making small yet effective shifts to get us closer to where we want to be. This is the time to put your plans into action.
