A saying goes, “the universe speaks if you will learn to listen.” My sensitivity heightened after an intense yoga experience over the weekend . I’m sharing some musings in today’s letter, and may it also help you in your own search for signs.
I’ve been walking around my neighbourhood every day. Since the pandemic, getting 10,000 steps a day has become a habit. Last Monday night, as I was walking, something just told me to look down. And as I looked down, I spotted four odd items along the road. I normally don’t see anything in particular.
But while walking that night, I saw not just one but four things.
The first one was a brown and white feather, about a foot long. I usually see Maya birds on my patio, and their feathers should be around 3-6 inches, not a foot long. After a few meters, I saw a five-peso coin and, later, a black beetle walking towards me, which I almost stepped on. And lastly, a dead rat. It must’ve been run over by a truck since it flattened on the road.
As mundane as these were, out of curiosity I looked up the meaning of each item.
First, the feather symbolizes the protection and love of guardian angels. Garth Clifford says, “They might magically appear in your path even if the bird is not around. It is a good idea to pick that feather up. It is made for you. It can clear negative energy out for you and bring more positivity in your life.”
Looking back, I should have picked it up because the feather can heal.
Second, the spotting coins symbolize abundance and an affirmation of being on the right path. Spiritual medium Emily Smith says, “Get excited when you see a penny, and also notice what you were thinking of at the time of finding it. Whenever I’m on my daily walk and get a download from spirit or inspiration on my next move, I find that once I affirm it to myself in my mind, a penny magically shows up!” And of course, she admonishes people who do not pick up any coin that shows up on their path, and that includes me. She advises, “Celebrate when you’ve found a penny, a nickel, a dime because the Universe has blessed you with abundance!… Use these reminders to bolster your faith that you are abundantly embodied, and the Universe wants to bless you with more every day.”
And for the beetle, Aunty Flo says, “To see a beetle scattering over the floor symbolizes wealth.”
I first dismissed the dead rat as roadkill, but something nudged me to investigate some more as rats are almost always ominous. Animal protection advocate Richard Alois says, “In many places, rats are considered a sign of positivity, good luck, wealth, and prosperity coming into your life. Since rats produce a large number of baby rats, they symbolize abundance. They are very creative in finding ways to achieve their goals, so rats are a good omen indicating that you will find creative ways to achieve your targets or getting out of a problem you are stuck in for a long time.”
If I put together all four things, it seems like the message from the Universe is that ‘Yes, I’m being guided, and I am going to manifest my intentions in creative ways.’
It’s really about being more aware of the signs from the Universe. Even if you don’t understand it, your higher self will alert you – everything counts, even the ominous dead rat!
Keung Hei Fat Choy! It’s Chinese New Year on February 1!
One of the Chinese rituals is to clear out the clutter! If you have old clothes to discard, please send them my way. I’ll be donating clothes to the Grace to Be Born Foundation, a halfway home for unwed mothers, and an orphanage for children born there. As mentioned in my last email too, you may want to clear your space with sound healing. Do email or message me if interested. We can work together to make it as safe and comfortable for everyone.
I say this over and over again, but all the more now — be open to the signs of the universe. Detach, listen, observe, and trust your instincts.
In loving service,
Rosan
