I’ve been waking up at 3:30 AM for morning sadhana these past few days in Vietnam. Between teaching and moving through everything around me, this early morning practice is what keeps me steady. It’s not mystical or extreme—it just works. Morning sadhana is the most practical way I know to stay clear, grounded, and connected, no matter where life takes me.

In Kundalini Yoga, morning sadhana is a daily, intentional practice—meditation, mantra, movement, and breath—traditionally done before sunrise, when the world is quiet and the mind is soft.

Sadhana isn’t about chasing bliss or expecting a profound experience every day. Some mornings feel expansive. Others are more “done than inspired.” But showing up is where real transformation lives. Over time, morning sadhana builds a subtle yet solid inner steadiness that doesn’t depend on how you feel.

Why the Early Morning Matters

Pre-dawn hours, two and half hours before sunrise, have a unique quality. The nervous system is quieter. The atmosphere feels open. Waking before the world starts pulling on you lets you set the tone rather than reacting to it.

It’s a simple rhythm I return to again and again: get up, set up, keep up. When I first set my breath, posture, and attention, the rest of the day moves with more ease.

Even in travel, morning sadhana keeps me aligned. Life hasn’t slowed down around me, but my system moves at its own pace. That’s the quiet power of commitment.

Morning Sadhana Isn’t About Perfection

Sadhana isn’t about being perfect or “spiritual.” It’s about being functional, aligned, and fully human. Each morning’s practice shapes how energy flows through the rest of the day. You stop reacting to noise and start responding from clarity. That shift changes everything.
