Someone asked me why I don’t have a spiritual name.

I first encountered having a spiritual name in my Level One Teacher Training of Kundalini Yoga. My classmates were all asking our teacher, the late Guru Dass, for one. They were wondering why I wasn’t queuing for one. I told them that when I was studying with Master del Pe, he asked me what my name was and I said “Rosan Cruz”. Del Pe had said it sounds very much like Rosicrucian, the 17th century movement.

The Roscicrucian Order was founded in 1407 by Christian Rosenkreuz, a German pilgrim who studied in the Middle East under various occult masters. When he died in 1484, the Order was re-established in the 17th century. The name comes from the order’s symbol, a rose on a cross. It is now a worldwide brotherhood claiming that its hidden knowledge goes back through secret doctrines of Jesus Christ and Pythagoras to the ancient gnosis of an Egyptian Pharoah. The teachings are a combination of occultism and other religious beliefs and practices. The current order is called Ancient and Mystical Order Rosae Crucis (AMORC) which is devoted to the investigation, study and practical application of the natural laws that govern the universe, seeking to apply the knowledge for the betterment of humanity.

Since then, I’ve decided to keep my name as my spiritual name.

Yogi Bhajan had said, “A spiritual name is the designated destiny that becomes your identity on the Earth. It is a heavenly identity; that’s all it is. You may not live to it; you may live to it. But it is the guiding force. And, it is a prayer. When somebody calls me ‘Yogiji,’ it means ‘one who is united with the greater soul.’ Or if somebody calls me, ‘Bhajan,’ it means ‘a divine song.’ And if somebody calls me ‘Harbhajan Singh,’ it means ‘the lion who sings the divine song.’ It’s a prayer. It’s a prayer in the other man’s words. It is a calling. What is a prayer? It’s a calling. That’s it! And you answer the calling. You get uplifted. It’s a plus, and a way to get other people’s blessings.”

You don’t have to be a Kundalini Yoga teacher to have a spiritual name. Check what the meaning of your name is. If you don’t like it, change it. Note that you are and will be vibrating the meaning of your name so consider to have a positive one that would elevate you.

Get emotionally and mentally prepared for the Christmas rush.

Nerves of Steel, Heart of Gold workshop on October 607, 2018

As a country that celebrates the Christmas season for three months, the traffic and parties and crowds can take a toll on one’s physical, emotional, and spiritual being. Be mindful and to steel yourself from reacting too strongly, or it will suck out your being as you know it. Luckily, Tarn Taran Kaur, whose name means” the boat that takes one across the ocean of existence”, will be in Manila for special classes and a workshop on Nerves of Steel, Heart of Gold on October 6-7, 2018.

Sign up for a happier Christmas. Let us all help out in raising each other’s vibrations.

In loving service,
Rosan
