Have you heard of a ‘moon diet’?
As your read this, I’m on my third day of fasting — not from the trendy lemon cleanse diet — but from a “Moon Diet”.
A moon diet takes place during either the full moon or the new moon, and only water and juice are consumed. I must admit that this all came about accidentally. I got home last Tuesday from the 9-day Kundalini Yoga teacher training program in Tagaytay. The next day, I had green juice for breakfast and l was out the door. I was busy that day with healing sessions and I was only drinking water, and didn’t have anything solid to eat. It was at 5pm when I decided that I wasn’t going to eat at all and fast together with the rare celestial event, the total lunar eclipse, which is both healing and life changing.
I remember Yogi Bhajan saying that the energy of the moon is the best time to cleanse and release toxins from the body. Our body is made up of 80% water and like the earth, we are also affected by the gravitational pull of the moon.
Yogic science says that the tidal effect is strongest during the period from Ekadasi (4 days before and after) to full moon or new moon as the sun comes nearer to the earth and the moon comes nearer the earth during the new moon.  Fasting means not consuming anything that might create a vacuum in the digestive tract, so the entire body is rested and frees up energy for the body to heal itself.
I feel more alert than ever on my third day of the moon diet
I have more energy, I get to accomplish the things I’ve set out to do, my dreams are more vivid, and physically, I am eliminating regularly. I must be clearing out all the toxins I’ve accumulated through the years and clear any worn out thoughts and beliefs.
The yogis say that if you fast with the moon cycle, you may lose up to 6 pounds. I haven’t weighed myself so I don’t know if this claim is valid.  Also for those who want to give this moon diet a try, the next full moon is on February 16 (a solar eclipse). Do eat light before and after you fast.  You can fast for 24-hours to up to the length of time of the moon, three days.  Mind you, that it was a natural transition for me to fast since our meals at the teacher training program were all vegan and gluten free.
Do you have or are you prone to the following?
Fatigue, swelling (eye bag, prostatis), masses (cysts, fibrosis, stones, clots), edema, skin disorders especially inflammation (eczema, acne), head ache, joint pain (and other chronic pain), foul odor in general (stool, breath, perspiration), constipation, tissue discoloration (yellow skin, purple lips, brown mucus, etc), tongue coating, sciera color (yellow or brown in the white of the eye),  excess mucus (lung, sinus congestion or in the stool), concentrated urine, or conditions caused by natural chemical accumulations (gout, etc).
Then maybe you should consider fasting.
Get ready to Live, Heal, and Bloom, Bangkok!
I am grateful for the opportunity to be in Bangkok as the Wellness Artisan in residence at the Siam Hotel in the second half of February. But while I’m away, there will be regular Monday and Thursday classes. I will be teaching this February 5, 8 and 12 and back to regular schedule in March.
For those who are planning to attend my sessions at the Siam Hotel, see you soon! And for those back at home: keep practicing and manifesting while I’m away, and I will definitely see you when I get back.
In loving service,
Rosan
