Back from diving in Tubbataha Natural Park in Sulu Sea. The break was a reminder that water is the most essential of all elements. We are made up of 70% water, making it easy for us to transmit energy to every cell of our body for healing. Even the father of medicine, Hippocrates, strongly advocated baths as medical treatment nearly 2500 years ago.
Here are three ways to experience water’s potential for healing or mental and emotional balance:
1. Drink water.
The most common advice is to drink two liters of water, equivalent to eight glasses of water. Personally, after I conduct a sound healing gong bath, I always recommend that the participants double their water intake. Drinking water has tremendous benefits. It flushes toxins out of the body through sweat and urination, regulates body temperature and pH balance, prevents infections, lubricates joints, helps with muscle soreness and tension, and keeps organs functioning optimally. Being well-hydrated also improves sleep quality, cognition, and mood. The Institute of Medicine of the National Academies recommended an adequate daily fluid intake of 3.7 liters for men and 2.7 liters for women.
2. Take a shower even if you are not dirty, especially in a cold shower.
The cold water sends electrical impulses to the brain and releases endorphins or happiness hormones, leading to feelings of well-being and optimism. It also increases blood circulation, heart rate, and breathing rate, which will energize you. That’s why it’s good to start the day with a cold shower and end the day after a stressful day.
3. Be near water.
Go to bodies of water such as a river, spring, lake, or sea. If you can’t go that far, soak in a tub or pool.
Water is a powerful healing element. It not only cleanses the body and brings an energy of cleansing, purification, and release.
May you find your way to water, and may you draw peace from it too.
In loving service,
Rosan
