I have a deep love for waterfalls! During my advanced Shamanism and Shamanic Healing training, I had the incredible opportunity to explore Les Waterfall, locally known as Yeh Mapeh Waterfall, in Tejaukla, Bali. It’s just a 15-minute drive from our base at Holiway Resort. Despite visiting the site last year, it remains relatively undiscovered by tourists. The lush greenery and natural beauty of the waterfall are truly breathtaking. Standing beneath the 100-foot (30-meter) cascade, we enjoyed the sensation of a beling under a shower of blessings.
In the the Yoga Retreat in Mount Banahaw last month, we had the opportunity to soak in the twin falls of Santa Lucia, which represent physical healing. It’s part of the purification rites in the Pamumuesto, which begins with the twin falls and ends in Husgado (Cave of Judgement). The two waterfalls – Diyos Ama (Father God) and Buhok ng Birhen (Hair of the Virgin) – are said to balance the male and female energies in each person.
Waterfalls have long been revered for their healing properties, particularly in their ability to generate negative ions that positively impact our health. As water molecules collide and break apart, they release negative ions into the air.
Research shows that waterfalls can increase negative ion levels in the air up to 10,000 times higher than normal conditions. The greater the turbulence and abundance of water, the higher the negative ion count. These negative ions promote feelings of calmness, reduce stress and depression, and strengthen the immune system. They also regulate sleep patterns and mood, increase energy levels, reduce inflammation, ease chronic pain, enhance the immune response, and improve respiratory function.
Beyond their physical benefits, waterfalls symbolize the flow of emotions and the subconscious.
They can facilitate emotional processing and release, offering a path to emotional healing. Numerous stories exist of individuals finding solace and renewal at waterfalls during personal turmoil and emotional distress.
The rhythmic sound of cascading water can help quiet the mind, making it a valuable tool for those seeking inner peace and spiritual connection.
If you can, visit a waterfall and seek solace and healing in its cascading waters. Like me, you may find tranquility and rejuvenation in its timeless presence.
In loving service,
Rosan
