I’m mulling over possibilities. As astrologers said, January 20 opened a portal to a world of possibilities, “Imagining new structures beyond what we currently have, a yearning to open minds, and a drive to improve life for the collective.” It’s also why I’ve been talking a lot about setting intentions and envisioning your future, as this year is the year of hope and renewal as we transition to the Age of Aquarius.
Most of you have reflected on and written your intentions and goals. It’s one big thing to get clear about what you want in 2023, the problem is keeping up and how to stay focused and committed. This month in the Kundalini yoga classes, we’ve been working on willpower and developing nerves of steel. The objective is to overcome old habits and start creating new ones. Without these two qualities, it’s easy to lose focus and fail.
Here are some remedies to enhance good energy for the year:
Willpower comes from the fire element or the Agni Tattva, associated with the third chakra, the seat of our personal power and physical strength. In yogic science, the Agni Tattva is the fire of the Kundalini energy, which is increased with practice. It burns out karma, blocks, and fears. The fire gives the strength of commitment, discipline, willpower, and the ability to carry out intentions. It is associated with the archetype of the spiritual warrior: one who can know one’s mission and act consistently in higher consciousness to complete it.
I’ll be teaching this meditation in class on Tuesday, to help strengthen your willpower to keep you steady and committed to your intentions and goals.
It will help you stay alert to any positive or negative impact that can sway you from your path.
Sit straight in Easy Pose (or in a chair). Place the right palm on the back of the left hand. Both palms face down in front of your torso at the level of the Heart Center. Eyes are focused at the tip of the nose. Chant the Ha-ree naam sat naam ha-ree naam hai-ree, Ha-ree naam sat naam sat naam ha-ree, three times on a single breath for 31 minutes.
The mantra is said to help bring you into vibrational alignment with your destiny by shifting your consciousness. Gurucharan explains, “The first part of this mantra aligns the powerful creative flow of life (Hari Nam) with your personal identity and destiny. The second line aligns your intuitions with your intention, so the unseen hand of spirit supports your fulfillment.”
The key takeaway for the class series this January is on building that fire, the third chakra.
The yogis say, “Without a strong Third Chakra, you may have many ideas and good intentions, but they may not come to fruition. With a strong Third Chakra, even your slightest intentions begin to manifest.”
For February, the next Kundalini yoga series is focused on the heart called Vibrate to the Frequency of Love 7-class series. It is designed to let go of the energetic ties that bind you to your past emotional relationships, connect you with your heart center to restore self-love, and increase compassion and sensitivity to others.
Sending love to you all. Journey on, and find your strength from within.
In loving service,
Rosan
