I love mango, this is my favorite fruit! The health benefits of mango make them even better! Mango is an excellent source of Vitamins A, B, and C. It makes your skin glow, improves your immune system, helps with digestion, and reduces the risk of cancer.
According to Yogi Bhajan, mango helps correct liver disorders and menstrual disorders. It has also been helpful in improving eyesight, constipation, indigestion, and sexual weakness. He said, “When you eat mangoes, always drink milk to balance their acidity. A mono diet of mangoes and milk will significantly improve health and vigor. “To follow this diet, he recommended eating eight to ten large mangoes with eight cups of milk per day. That’s easy to do in the country of mango shakes!
Even more benefits to eating a mango, according to Filipino authors:
The authors of “Medicinal Fruits, Vegetables and Spices,” Jaime and Rebecca Galvez Tan, identified the benefits of the different parts of the fruit:
1. Root – decoct the root bark of the mango for diarrhea and increased urine. It can also be used as a wash for abdominal whitish discharge from the vagina.
2. Bark – decoct the bark of the mango and use the solution for wounds. The gum from the bark can be mixed with coconut oil and applied to scabies or swallowed for dysentery. The bark can also be made into hot lotion for rheumatism.
3. Young leaves – decoct the young leaves of the mango tree and add a bit of honey for voice loss. Or boil the chopped young leaves, 4 to 6 tablespoons in two glasses of water for 15 minutes to help heal asthma and cough. The dried, powdered leaves can be given to diabetic persons.
4. Flower – decoct the flower of the mango and take for diarrhea and dysentery.
5. Seed – decoct the seed and use the solution to wash wounds. It can be powdered and combined with honey for asthma, diarrhea, or dysentery and eaten to expel intestinal worms.
Decoction is prepared by boiling in water. It’s perfect for extracting the properties of hard roots, dried berries, barks, and seeds. They are much more robust in flavor than herbal infusions and more concentrated.
For the summer, here is a cooling and refreshing beverage, the Mango Lassi, which is an excellent drink for both women and men:
2 cups of homemade yogurt
2 medium mangoes (very ripe)
2 tablespoon maple syrup or honey
6 ice cubes
1/8 teaspoon rose water
Peel and slice the ripe mangoes. Put all the ingredients in the blender and blend at high speed. Serves 4 to 6 glasses.
With mangoes being yellow and stimulating the manipura third chakra, you will feel recharged, healthy and strong as you eat.
Enjoy the drink, and stay cool through this hot summer!
In loving service,
Rosan
