I’m not one to turn down an opportunity to help others. I received an inquiry on social media to lead a yoga class for a family of eight who was taking a hiking vacation in Tanay.  It was pouring heavily all week, I had my swab and antigen tests done. I checked with the coordinator if it was pushing through and he said it was.. So  I  traveled to the mountain resort in Tanay where they were. The place is off-grid without electricity, and the cell signal is iffy. I said ‘yes’ despite the heavy rains and all.

Said ‘yes’ despite heavy rains and all

The father preferred to go to an area with no cell signal. He wanted his four children and their spouses to remember his humble beginnings. He shared his journey about how he became a successful  entrepreneur. At a young age, he always wanted to become a CEO, but with his background, the only way to become one was to build his own business.

His father, the hometown mayor at that time, had high hopes for him since he was a valedictorian in grade school and got a scholarship in high school. However, instead of pursuing college, he married his sweetheart at 18 years old. His decision disappointed his father. He had to work hard to prove to his father wrong that he can succeed.

He started out as a driver for a Swiss CEO. He would sideline offering e-loads in the village where his employer lived. When his employer left, he and his wife became OFWs in Japan. He was a construction worker, and his wife, a factory worker. He didn’t have papers and went back to Manila. When he returned, he worked as a corporate driver in a major telecoms company.

From CEO driver to CEO

In 2011, he got a break, borrowed money, and revisited his e-loading business. He said it was difficult and almost didn’t make it in the third year. His partners gave up. Since he didn’t have any other options, he persisted, determined to succeed.

And now, ten years later, he is the CEO of a multi-million multilevel corporation with seven million members nationwide and the core business is e-loads.  He also runs five other companies. He said that through faith and God’s grace he was able to survive and thrive. He now wants to pay it forward by helping others achieve their dreams by teaching people to shift from poverty mindset to prosperity mindset.

with Lorenzo Rellosa and his wife Annie

Isn’t his story amazing? He wants to chronicle his rags to riches journey in an autobiography which he will call “From CEO driver to CEO.” If I didn’t say yes to lead a kundalini yoga class for this family, I wouldn’t have met this visionary entrepreneur, Lorenzo Rellosa, and his family. He even shared some tips on how to invest wisely!

What about you? What have you been saying yes to this year?

Richard Branson of Virgin said , “Life is a lot more fun when you say yes! It’s amazing how that one little word can lead you on an incredible adventure.”
