How are you holding up this 6th day of the enhanced community quarantine/lockdown?
I know that the government’s social distancing measure is quite extreme, but it has been proven to be highly effective. I live by myself, and I can’t even visit my mom since I don’t have a resident ID where she is, which may be a blessing in disguise. She’s 93 years old and more vulnerable in contracting this disease.
Where I am in San Juan, there are military and police deployed at entry/exit points. It’s quite strict here.
Since the pandemic, as of March 18, 2020, of the 202 cases reported, 21 (or 10%) were from here.
Don’t let the numbers fool you.
You might be thinking that 206 is a small number compared to the numbers of Korea and Japan and even in Europe. The risk of infection though is severe. In Italy, the number of cases doubled from 10,000 to 20,000 in four days. And in Spain, it jumped to 4,200 and 120 deaths in just one weekend. Isn’t that scary?
A resident in West Greenhills reported that her Amah (grandmother) died on the10th day following the first sign of fever. She was in the hospital when she passed away, and she wrote, “No one was allowed to even look at her. Sadly, they just put her in a bag to be cremated right away at 6 pm. We weren’t even allowed proper burial or anyone to transport the body. We wouldn’t even be able to claim her ashes not until this NCov issue blows over.”
You can check the world tracker where it charts the trajectory of the growing number of countries with more than 100 confirmed cases of COVID-19.
I recently learned that the idea of slowing a virus’ spread so that fewer people need to seek treatment at any given time is known as “flattening the curve.” That’s why even with 202 cases, our government implemented this drastic 30-days community quarantine. There is hard science as to how a virus spreads, but the bottom line — with partial lockdown, we may slow it down. By total lockdown, we extinguish it.
In other words, stay home.
Making the most out of this solitude.
Apart from daily yoga, I am now reading books and believe it or not, signed up on Netflix to watch Crash Landing On You. I still have yet to set-up the monochord that I got in my last sound healing therapy course a month ago.
This will pass. There has been good news – China has no new cases and they’re now slowly returning to normal with factories and stores reopening.
In the meantime, we live…virtually.
So glad that a number of you joined me in our virtual sessions from earlier this week! With some 3 weeks to go till the end of this lockdown, I hope even more join us. As everyone’s worried and panicked, it’s my hope that the practice becomes part of your relaxation routine. And may it apply to the time beyond the lockdown too.
I have a FREE online meditation class at 5 pm on March 24 to harness the New Moon energy in Aries. Just message me for the zoom link. This is an opportune time to help you see things from a higher perspective and open your awareness to new realms and new ways of thinking.
Later this week I’ll be teaching online kundalini yoga classes every Monday and Thursday from 5 to 6:30 pm via zoom. Check Facebook and Instagram often for details, and I’m always a quick message away.
Stay safe. Look out for each other.
In loving service,
Rosan
