I’m sharing the meditation that I learned here in the Himalayas, in Manali to activate the gift of your hidden potential within every being.
The meditation requires chanting the mantra Akal Mahakal. Yogi Amandeep taught this to us for the Himalayan pilgrimage. He said the meditation will assist in transcending duality through mastery over time and space.
The meditation is in three parts:
Sit in Easy Pose with hands in a prayer pose in front of the heart center. Begin Breath of Fire through the nostrils for 1 minute. To end, inhale and hold as you squeeze and tense your whole body from head to toe while applying the locks. Then exhale and repeat two more times.
Use the Mahakal mudra where the right hand is in a fist with the right index finger extended. Wrap the left hand around the index finger and press the left thumb down against the tip of the right index finger.
Stand with the left leg straight. Bending the knee, lift the right leg and the right foot up. With time, the standing leg will become hot as the medians open. Keep your eyes open and gaze at something in front of you. Hold the Mahakal Mudra in front of the heart center with the spine straight, and the body relaxed. Inhale and chant the mantra Akal Mahakal on your exhale. Continue for 5 minutes. To end, inhale and hold the posture, mudra, and drishti – feel the fire of the standing leg. Then exhale and repeat two more times. Release the left leg and stand on both feet with the eyes closed.
Become aware of all the sensations that have manifested and be present in the sacred space. Tightening the hands into fists, inhale and hold as you squeeze and tense the whole body, engage mul bandh. Then exhale and repeat two more times.
Relax for 1 minute. Then, repeat this sequence with the right leg straight and the left foot up.
Part three: Sit in Easy Pose with the hands in Buddha Mudra (right hand over the left, thumb tips touching) resting in your lap. Close your eyes and become aware of the space above your head – from the tip of the skull to the roof of your room. Hold your awareness in this dimension that exists beyond mind and body. Think and do nothing as you listen to the mantra Akal Mahakal for 3 minutes. To end the meditation, inhale and hold as you apply mul bandh, draw the navel in and up, lift the rib cage and heart, roll the tongue and eyes – hold yourself in your spine. Then exhale and repeat two more times.
Yes, it’s a lot, but this is one meditation worth immersing in. Hope it helps!
In loving service,
Rosan
